A week ago today, Sunday July 12, I agreed to take on 2 puppies. They were 3 weeks old.

My neighbors were leaving. They had the momma and pups. But they couldn’t take the pups. They came to us asking if we’d be interested in taking just one. I took both. I know! What a softy, huh? I just couldn’t stand the thot of either of these adorable mixed mutts being abused, or killed. My mothering instinct kicked into hyper drive, I guess. (sheepish smiles)
This got me thinking about God’s love for us. He can’t stand the thot of us going to hell. That is why Jesus came in the flesh, and died for our sins. I am not saying I’m God or a savior, I am saying this sudden adopting of these mutts has me understanding God’s love for us in a deeper way.
I love how God teaches us lessons in every day life!
These pups are a very intriguing mix of Dachshund, Chihuahua and Pitbull! Momma was pit and daddy was a mix of the other two. Each pup looks so different, you’d wonder if they came from the same litter.
This is Lewy. He looks mostly Dachshund. He is black and peanut butter brindle, he is the smallest. Lewy has attached himself to Mikki
This is Rusty. He is the largest of the two. He looks just like a pit pup. He is more independent, and hasn't chosen anyone as his own yet.
I told Rick, “What have I gotten myself into?” as soon as we were left alone with the pups. “As if I didn’t have enough to do, I take on two pups who aren’t even ready to leave their momma.” Yet as I said that, again, the love and protective feelings I felt for them were stronger than the realization that I’m going to have a lot of work to do this next several years.

Hey, Cee–it’s working, it’s working!!!! YAY!!! How strange! This is the first time I’ve visited that the box hasn’t been transparent. These little pups are so adorable…and I would’ve been that sucker, too. You did the right thing. I look forward to hearing all about their adventures as they get older–what a mix! The chihuahua and dachsund should make them very sweet (our chi is very loving) and the pit should make them very protective–even more so than they already are. Have fun and get ready for loads of lap time!

Thanks Lori. At times I think, what are you thinking??? to myself. But they are just too cute! Chihuahuas are my favorite dogs too! I had one growing up, who lived to about 17, and we had one in the family for 19 years. She just passed a year or so ago. They seem like they are getting the ‘pamper me’ attitude from that side!
