1Corinthians 13:4-8 “…love has no pride…”
At the root of pride is egotism – which is self centeredness that can be described as ‘lack of consideration for others’. It is easy to spot in someone else, but without checking in with our own thoughts, we can be guilty of pride.
I know I am.
Prideful thoughts can sound something like, “I don’t have to put up with this!” or “Don’t they know who I am?” or the classic “Who do they think they are?”
Some times we need to forget our self importance and help others; even if it is an inconvenience. In doing so, we can shine our light for God, showing His love and mercy to them.
That can look like going across town in rush hour traffic to check on a loved one that has been in a car accident, or pay for towing their car from the accident because they didn’t have towing on their insurance. Maybe it means we can visit someone in the hospital putting aside the fact that we loath hospitals and their smell.
Only you know what it looks like for you to put your pride to the side as you shine your light for God.
