Life Lesson in Grape Vines

John 15:5 “I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (WEB)

I have a grape vine out in front of my house, growing along an old ladder. It has finally reached the edge of the garage. This is the first year it has actually produced iddy biddy grapes.

I did some study on grape vines. Did you know the big part that comes out of the ground is called the vine? Then the branches are what grow out and bear fruit. I could not help but remember the verse in John 15 where Jesus was talking about us being the branches and Him the vine.  If I cut off this branch with the tiny cluster of grapes, it would wither and die. It needs to be fed by the vine, daily, in order to produce fruit.

With this real life example, I have come to realize what it means to be connected to Jesus.

Every day, I must consciously connect to Him in order to produce the fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22 “… the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,…”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Abba God, Thank You for such a beautiful lesson about my Faith Walk with You. Since it is by my decision that I am connected to You, help me daily to be fed by the Spiritual Nutrients You provide in order to bear everlasting fruit of love, joy, and peace. In Your Son’s Name, the Name above all Names, Yeshua the Messiah, Jesus our Lord and Savior, Amen.
