I am stretching spiritually more than I’d anticipated this early in my trek to Simple Contentment. But I’m so grateful for it.
Simple Contentment Activity Journal May 7, 2009
1. Do something for someone else (who will I bless today?) - I visited with my son and encouraged him – he was having a BAD day. A friend lost a pet today and I was able to reach out to her and pray with her, also.
2. Do something for myself (how will I bless me?) – I moisturized my cuticles, they were very dry. It’s nice looking down at my hands and seeing pampered cuticles.
3. What is one thing I don’t want to do that needs to be done? (don’t procrastinate) My daughter and I went to the store and purchased all the Mother’s Day BBQ dinner items I needed. This way we won’t be rushing during the weekend to get it all put together.
4. What will I do to bless my body? (exercise) – I did 30 sit ups and walked around the block today.
5. What will I do to bless my mind? (mental exercise) - I did a word study on Kindness. I am surprised to find it’s not just being gentle. Kindness is about thoughtful consideration of others put to action. It’s like love, in the aspect that one can’t be kind without action.
6. What is my Daily thanksgiving prayer? (things I am thankful for at the end of my day) - Dear Lord, thank you for showing me that patience and kindness aren’t necessarily a heartfelt matter but a choice, a mind over matter choice. Help me to have the mind of love so that I can show others kindness and patience. Thank you for friends who call just to say hi. Thank you for a good relationship with my son so that he feels comfortable enough to confide in me. Thank you for left overs that made awesome burritos for dinner. YUM. I’m such a blessed woman.
It’s only been two days but I’m feeling much more in control of my life. It truly is simple to attain contentment. Not easy, but simple.
Until Tomorrow -
