When I married Russ who is a "Chosen Person of God" and when we went to churches and they found out he was Jewish they circled him like bumble bees to attack him with the Word..as a Christian I was turned off from that...We had been to a church for 6 months and we went to the newcomers lunch and we had to tell people about ourselves and Russ told them he was Jewish...Well let me tell you after lunch he was circled by alot of men to be converted....The whole time these people didn't say a word to Russ during the 6 months we were there.....I grabbed Russ's hand and we left and we never went back...After that I learned as much as I could about the Jewish religion..As you know I prayed and prayed for Russ to believe...My actions along with my beliefs and the church we found didn't cram things down his throat...he learned and with showing him by our actions of others Russ accepted...We do celebrate Channukah but not with presents...we celebrate knowing God saved the Jews one more time...My kids yearn to learn more about their heritage..They want to go to their second cousins Barmitzva in 2 years...they want to experience it..We are all saving to go...This year we are going to do passover...Instead of the 40 day lent thing I want to do passover with unleaven bread. Trully getting into it and getting to know Christ more then I have ever have before.. I love Russ lighting the Menorah with his beannie on and saying the prayer in Hebrew...It is so awesome to hear...One day I am going to learn that prayer in hebrew..The prayer he says in Hebrew is " Blessed art thou, Oh Lord our God, King of the Universe who hast santified us with thy commandments, and commands us to kindle the Channukah lights".. To me the Christian Churches do not understand the Old Testament...the Easter bunny, well it came along like santa claus...not in the Bible..You and I both have struggled at Easter with all this bunny stuff...same with Halloween we struggled for years...
