Favoritest Day

Last Saturday was our last small group meeting for the summer.

What is a small group? You ask? It’s where a small group (less than 15 people) commit to meeting with each other, once a week, to do a light Bible study about the past week’s sermon our pastor gave. It’s also a great way to get to know each other better. We have a dedicated group leader who has a print out of Bible verses related to the sermon with thought provoking questions designed to help us apply the truths of the sermon to our lives. It is an excellent way to dig deeper into the current series at church. It also is a wonderful way to bond with others from church, and gives us opportunity to pray with and for each other.

Small groups from Grace Point Church meet at different times during the week in various homes across North Las Vegas. Saturday mornings are the only time Rick and I can attend, due to our crazy schedule. Our Saturday morning group finishes our week perfectly.

It’s a great idea that churches across the country are doing in order to help their flock get to know each other, and to mentor each other in the Lord. And it’s a way to fit Bible study and fellowship in where a person’s schedule allows. I think of it as a modern day Sunday School class for adults. If your church offers a small group program, I highly recommend for you to join one that fits into your schedule.

Now that you understand what a small group is, I will tell you why last Saturday was my “Favoritest” day this year. We had a BBQ pool party at our host’s home to commemorate our group’s last get together for the summer. It was such a fun filled joyful day. Everyone laughed and played in the water or played “corn hole”. It was so amazing, I think I actually got an idea of how heaven will feel like when we are there. The love and acceptance, lack of upset or misery and great friendship was so real. For me it was healing on many levels. I could see on the faces of everyone that they felt the same way.

It was by far the favorite day of 2010!
